HHS Secretary Tom Price: Just What the Doctor Ordered

The left is doing their best in trying to disrupt and stop Dr. Tom Price’s nomination to be Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). They are throwing every smear and outrageous accusation they can up against the wall, hoping something sticks. Why? Because Dr. Price has been a strong voice in opposing Obamacare (The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or ACA) since 2009 and will be extremely effective in implementing all the repeal policies and the replacement plan that emerge from Congress.
Prior to coming to Washington in 2004, Dr. Price was an orthopedic surgeon for twenty years and served in the Georgia State Senate for four terms, two as Minority Whip. He helped lead the Republican renaissance in Georgia, eventually taking control of the State Senate, and became the first Republican Senate Majority Leader in the state’s history.
Since he arrived in Washington, he has never stopped moving forward. He currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and was the Budget Committee Chairman in the 114th Congress. He has been Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee and the Chairman of the Republican Study Committee during the 111th Congress, the largest conservative caucus in the House.
With Dr. Price, American taxpayers get a “twofer.” Not only is he a physician who understands healthcare from the medical perspective, his service on two of the most powerful congressional committees that will write the legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare in the 115th Congress will be invaluable in his role as HHS secretary. He has been a leader in healthcare reform and has sponsored replacement bills for the ACA since 2009. He understands what needs to be done to return decision-making power back to patients and consumers.
Furthermore, he has gained the respect and the endorsement of many organizations to serve as HHS Secretary such as the American Medical Association; the American Hospital Association; the Community Oncology Alliance; The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board, Washington Price Choppers, and the National Association of Manufacturers.
Not only does he thoroughly understand healthcare policy, he has been a friend to taxpayers. A score of 99 percent in the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste's (CCAGW) 2015 Congressional Ratings and a 93 percent Lifetime Rating proves his fiscal conservative bona fides will go far in protecting our tax dollars and in fighting waste, fraud, and abuse in government-run healthcare programs. CCAGW endorsed Dr. Price to be HHS Secretary today.
He will be a great Secretary of HHS and will straighten out the mess Obamacare had made of our healthcare system. He is, in short, just what the doctor ordered.
