(Washington, D.C.) – The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), the nation’s largest taxpayer watchdog group, has named taxpayer activist Michael T. Chappell to chair the Alabama chapter of its Taxpayer Action Network (TAN). As the Alabama State TAN Chairman, Chappell will coordinate state and local TAN activities. The appointment is part of a CCAGW initiative to increase its presence on the state level.
“Michael Chappell is an invaluable asset in our continuing fight against waste, fraud, and excessive taxation in the state of Alabama,” said CCAGW President Thomas A. Schatz. “He has done more on behalf of the taxpayers of Alabama than any other grassroots leader in the state.”
TAN is the grassroots arm of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste. TAN’s 3,000 volunteers serve as both watchdogs and lobbyists on government waste and mismanagement issues. The goal of TAN is to recruit individuals who are interested in actively fighting against wasteful spending of taxpayer dollars, and to train and motivate activists and community leaders to influence public policy at all levels of governments.
CCAGW is a 600,000-member nonprofit, nopartisan organization dedicated to the elimination of government waste, fraud, abuse and mismanagement. Individuals interested in joining the TAN network are encouraged to visit theorganization’s website at www.cagw.org, or call 1-800-USA-DEBT.
