Citizens Against Government Waste Names Sen. Elizabeth Warren October 2022 Porker of the Month

Porker of the Month

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is our October 2022 Porker of the Month for terrifyingly wanting to take even more of your money to pay off someone else’s student loans.

As Halloween approaches, Sen. Warren has a special treat for all taxpayers:  Pony up your more of your hard-earned dollars for student loan debt forgiveness.  But this is no treat; it is a massive trick.  President Biden’s $10,000 in loan forgiveness is scary enough, but Sen. Warren would turn it into a nightmare by making it $50,000.  She is also setting taxpayers down a grim path by saying forgiving student loan debt is “actually a way to fight inflation.”  Inflation is the highest is has been in 40 years and Americans are being forced to choose between feeding their families and heating their homes.  According to an October 19, 2022, CNBC poll, 66 percent of working adults say they are worse off financially than a year ago because of inflation.  Paying off a higher amount of student loans will make matters even worse.  According to the Penn Wharton Budget Model, Biden’s $10,000 student loan forgiveness could cost up to $1 trillion, but Sen. Warren doesn’t care about how much more it will cost taxpayers to pay off $50,000 in loans.

CAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Sen. Warren is brewing up a potent potion of perfidy that she thinks will convince taxpayers that spending trillions of dollars to pay for someone else’s voluntary debt is a great idea.  More and more Americans are scarily living paycheck to paycheck, but Sen. Warren wickedly does not care.  Her desire for massive student loan forgiveness is worse than a rotten candy apple on Halloween.  Sen. Warren’s dastardly desire to devastate taxpayers by making them deal with someone else’s debt makes her an easy choice for CAGW’s October Porker of the Month.”
