(Washington, D.C.) – Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), America’s largest taxpayer advocacy group, will travel to Austin on March 11, 1999. CAGW President Tom Schatz will join CAGW Texas Chairman C.A. Stubbs in honoring members of the Texas Legislature who have signed CAGW’s Pledge of Integrity. The Pledge binds signatories to “treat as a sacred trust any public funds.”
“This pledge is not about partisan politics, but renewing our commitment to maintain America’s moral leadership in the world by refusing to allow the waste and abuse of the people’s resources,” remarked Schatz.
“We are very proud to have these members of the Legislature as partners in our effort to end the culture of entitlement that permeates government,” Stubbs noted. “The Pledge of Integrity is about more than saving taxpayer dollars. It is about restoring the confidence that citizens must have in their representatives in government.”
CAGW is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government. The organization boasts 600,000 members nationally, including 42,000 in Texas.
