(Washington, D.C.) – On Thursday, February 17th, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will join renowned author and political critic Martin L. Gross to release his latest work, The Government Racket 2000:  New Washington Waste From A to Z.  The news conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in the Murrow Room of National Press Club, 529 14th Street N.W, Washington, D.C.

“Martin Gross has an unmatched talent for discovering – in an entertaining and readable fashion – the egregious waste, fraud and abuse in Washington,” remarked CAGW President Thomas A. Schatz.  “This book will inspire taxpayers to rise and demand greater accountability from politicians and bureaucrats alike.”

In his book, Gross identifies $375 billion in wasteful and ridiculous government programs – enough money to give Form 1040 filers a 40 percent annual tax break.  Among the items Gross targets in his 294-page tome:  an escalating, not decreasing, National Debt; $368 billion for all forms of welfare, despite “reform”; $15 billion in “pork” and even defaulted small Business Administration loans to criminals.

Copies of The Government Racket 2000 and press kits will be available at the news conference.  Refreshments will be served.

CAGW is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government.
