(Washington D.C.) – The little pink book that makes Washington’s pork-barrel practitioners squirm is back. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will release its 2000 Congressional Pig Book at a news conference scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at 1:30 p.m.
This year’s Pig Book will profile some of the most egregious pork projects earmarked for states and congressional districts around the country. America’s largest taxpayer watchdog group will provide countless examples of how many members of Congress circumvent budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork barrel is running over in record amounts this year, and the Pig Book reveals the choicest morsels.
Joining CAGW President Thomas A. Schatz at the news conference will be Congressional Porkbuster Coalition Chairmen David Minge (D-Minn.) and Edward Royce (R-Calif.). Veteran pork slayer Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has also been invited to attend.
