(Washington D.C.) – It’s back. The little pink book that makes Washington’s pork-barrel practitioners squirm. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will release its 1999 Congressional Pig Book Summary at a news conference scheduled for Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at 2:00 p.m.
The Pig Book will profile some of the most egregious pork projects earmarked for states and congressional districts around the country. America’s largest taxpayer watchdog group will serve up Grade A examples of how certain members of Congress circumvent budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork barrel is brimming in 1999 and the Pig Book will reveal the choicest items.
Joining CAGW President Thomas A. Schatz at the news conference will be Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Reps. David Minge (D-Minn.) and Ed Royce (R-Calif.). CAGW will also announce its 1999 “Oinkers” award winners and – back by popular demand – porcine pals “Porky” and “R.J.” will entertain.
Food and beverages will be served at the news conference. Reporters are asked to please bring their press credentials.
