(Washington, D.C.) – Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), America’s largest taxpayer watchdog group, will release its annual report on wasteful government spending at a Capitol Hill news conference on Tuesday, June 8, 1999. The report, entitled Prime Cuts, is a compendium of budget-cutting options that, if implemented, would save taxpayers $1.2 trillion over five years.
CAGW President Thomas Schatz and House Budget Committee Chairman John Kasich (R-Ohio) will speak at the 11:00 a.m. event. Chairman Kasich is a longtime supporter of CAGW and a recent recipient of the organization’s “Taxpayer Hero” award.
Now in its 8th year, Prime Cuts arms both citizens and legislators with a comprehensive menu of specific, rational, and achievable options for rightsizing the federal government. It also provides a blueprint to allow congressional appropriators to stay within the current budget caps.
CAGW is a 600,000 member nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, mismanagement and abuse in government.
