CAGW TO RELEASE PIG BOOK MARCH 14
(Washington D.C.) – Save the date! The little pink book that makes Washington’s pork-barrel practitioners squirm is back. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will release its 2001 Congressional Pig Book at a news conference on Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at 12:15 p.m.
This year’s Pig Book will profile some of the most egregious pork projects earmarked for states and congressional districts around the country. America’s largest taxpayer watchdog group will provide countless examples of how members of Congress circumvent budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork barrel is running over in record amounts this year, and the Pig Book reveals the choicest morsels.
Scheduled to join CAGW President Thomas A. Schatz is veteran pork slayer Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Sen. Peter Fitzgerald (R-Ill.), Sen. Zell Miller (D- Ga.), and Congressional Porkbuster Coalition Chair Ed Royce (R-Calif.).
Food and beverages will be served at the news conference. Reporters are asked to bring their press credentials. As always, CAGW’s porcine pals “Porky” and “R.J.” will be on hand to entertain.
