Andrew Nehring

Andrew NehringAndrew Nehring is the State Policy and Government Affairs Manager for Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), a private, non-partisan, non-profit organization representing more than one million members and supporters nationwide. Andrew’s mission is to ensure that CAGW’s core principles are represented at the state and local levels.

Prior to joining CAGW in January 2016, Andrew co-founded Avenel Strategies, a boutique public affairs and government relations firm based in Washington, D.C. He also served as Director of Business Development for beamSmart Inc., a mobile cloud communication company, and as the Chief Strategy Officer for Bottoms Up!, a mobile promotions app for bars and restaurants.

He is a contributor to the Washington Examiner’s Beltway Confidential blog, and his policy portfolio ranges from e-cigarette regulation and taxes to renewable energy issues, as well as the promotion of CAGW’s perspectives in the areas of technology and telecommunications (including internet sales taxes, small cell/5G, and municipal broadband), pharmaceutical issues, and tax policy.

Andrew attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he studied political science and pre-law. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.
