Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has said it before and we will say it again: Price controls on pharmaceuticals will not lower prices and lead to fewer future cures.
Every senator should read CAGW’s reports and commentary on price controls, dating back to 2000, before they support the reconciliation proposal to control the price of drugs that has been reported as agreed upon between Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).
And if they still vote in favor of the agreement, they should be prepared to explain to their family, friends, and constituents, when future cures are not available for devastating diseases, how they created long-term pain in exchange for short-term gain in a failed effort to lower the cost of drugs.
