(Washington, D.C.) - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), the nation’s premiere taxpayer watchdog, in conjunction with the Taxpayers League Foundation, will release the 2006 Minnesota Piglet Book at the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday, August 26. It is the thirteenth report in CAGW’s Piglet Book series, which exposes wasteful spending by state governments.
What: 2006 Minnesota Piglet Book Release
Who: Taxpayers League Foundation and Citizens Against Government Waste
When: Saturday, August 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. CDT
Where: KTLK 100.3 FM radio booth at Machinery Hill (1545 Underwood St.) on the Minnesota State Fair grounds (Falcon Heights, MN)
Speakers will include Taxpayer League Foundation President David Strom and Minnesota State Chairman of CAGW John Frydenlund.
Piglet Books combine elements of two perennial CAGW publications, the Congressional Pig Book and Prime Cuts, with a local organization’s knowledge of the state budget. The 2006 Minnesota Piglet Book exposes many areas where wasteful spending can be eliminated, providing a valuable resource to legislators and taxpayers.
From state art grants for North Dakota to $1 million for a replica Vikings ship, the 2006 Minnesota Piglet Book offers enough examples to make any Minnesota taxpayer cringe.
Hard copies will be distributed at the press conference. The report will also be available at www.cagw.org or www.taxpayersleaguefoundation.org . For answers to further questions, to schedule an interview, or to order a hard copy, please contact Alexa Moutevelis (202-467-5318, amoutevelis@cagw.org) or Mark Giga (651-210-1446, markg@taxpayersleague.org).
