(Washington, D.C.) – Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) has moved the press conference for the release of the 2005 Congressional Pig Book forward one hour to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2005. Also, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) is now scheduled to join CAGW President Tom Schatz, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.).
CAGW’s signature publication profiles the most egregious pork projects earmarked by members of Congress for states and districts around the country, such as $200,000 for the Motion Picture and Television Fund in Woodland Hills, Calif. and $70,000 for the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame in Appleton, Wis. Yet again, the record federal deficit failed to deter members of Congress from circumventing budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork barrel is running over in record amounts this year, and the Pig Book reveals the choicest morsels.
