(Washington D.C.) – It’s back. The little pink book that makes Washington’s pork-barrel practitioners apoplectic. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will release its 1998 Congressional Pig Book Summary at a news conference on Tuesday, March 10, 1988. The Pig Book will profile some of the most egregious pork projects earmarked for states and congressional districts around the country. Grade A examples of how certain members of Congress circumvent budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork-barrel is brimming in 1998 and the Pig Book will reveal the choicest items.
Joining CAGW President Thomas A. Schatz at the news conference will be Sens. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), and Reps. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), David Minge (D-Minn.) and Rep. Mark Neumann (R-Wis.). CAGW will also announce its 1998 “Oinkers” award winners and – back by popular demand – porcine pal “Porky” will entertain.
Food and beverages will be served at the news conference. Reporters are asked to please bring their press credentials.
