(Washington, D.C.) – Save the date! The little pink book that makes politicians squirm is back. Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) will release its 2005 Congressional Pig Book at a press conference on Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at 11:00 a.m.
CAGW’s signature publication profiles the most egregious pork projects earmarked by Congress for states and congressional districts around the country, such as $200,000 for the Motion Picture and Television Fund in Woodland Hills, Calif. and $70,000 for the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame in Appleton, Wis. Yet again, the record federal deficit failed to deter members of Congress from circumventing budget rules to “bring home the bacon.” The pork barrel is running over in record amounts this year, and the Pig Book reveals the choicest morsels.
Invited to join CAGW President Tom Schatz are Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), and other members of Congress.
