(Washington, D.C.) - Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW), the nation’s premiere taxpayer watchdog, in conjunction with the Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions, will release Kentucky: Unbridled Pork at a press conference tomorrow. It is the tenth report in CAGW’s Piglet Book series, which exposes wasteful spending by state governments.
What: Kentucky: Unbridled Pork Release
Who: The Bluegrass Institute for Public Policy Solutions and Citizens Against Government Waste
When: Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. EST
Where: Kentucky State House Capitol Rotunda, Frankfort, Ky.
Speakers will include CAGW Vice President of Policy David Williams and Bluegrass Institute Fiscal Policy Analyst Aaron Morris. CAGW’s mascot Porky will also be in attendance.
Piglet Books combine elements of two perennial CAGW publications, the Congressional Pig Book and Prime Cuts, with a local organization’s knowledge of the state budget. Kentucky: Unbridled Pork exposes many areas where wasteful spending can be eliminated, providing a valuable resource to legislators and taxpayers.
From funding a Disney-like display in an abandoned coal mine to subsidizing shrimp farming in a land-locked state, Kentucky: Unbridled Pork offers enough examples to make any Kentucky taxpayer cringe.
Hard copies will be distributed at the press conference. The report will also be available online at www.cagw.org or www.bipps.org. For answers to further questions, to schedule an interview, or to order a hard copy, please contact Tom Finnigan (202-467-5309, media@cagw.org) or Jim Waters (270-782-2140, jwaters@bipps.org).
