(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) released a statement in response to the flurry of hateful attacks and personal threats against Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai and his family:

“It seems that far too many proponents of depression-era regulations on the internet have abandoned a reasonable dialogue and resorted to threats, intimidation, and hate to make their misguided case.  Despicable behavior like this is the last refuge of those whose positions are already flimsy or flawed.  We expect policy debates in Washington to be passionate and intense, but vile attacks on an honorable public servant like Chairman Pai and his family are beyond the pale.  We encourage Title II proponents to immediately condemn and disavow the hate that has found a home among their ranks.  It is our hope that the debate over Restoring Internet Freedom can be conducted with civility and respect going forward.”

Citizens Against Government Waste is the nation's largest nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in government.
