(Washington, D.C.) –  Today, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) announced the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Policy Center (ITPC).  The center's executive director is CAGW Vice President for Policy and Government Affairs Deborah Collier.  The ITPC will build on and amplify CAGW’s decades of leadership in telecommunications and technology policy, including aerospace, antitrust, biopharmaceuticals, broadband, information technology, intellectual property rights, privacy, and telecommunications. 

The ITPC will promote and protect American ingenuity and innovation, which was set in motion through the protection of intellectual property in the Constitution.  Innovation improves and saves lives, from technological advancements to new vaccines and cures for diseases.  Those inventions are most effective when the government stays out of the way of the creative process.  The ITPC will both promote pro-growth, free market policies and oppose efforts to reduce intellectual property rights, change longstanding antitrust standards, and impose burdensome tax regimes that threaten innovation. 

The ITPC will enhance CAGW’s decades-long work to research, educate, and promote policies that will ensure the innovations of tomorrow will see the light of day.

CAGW President Tom Schatz said, “Since CAGW was established in 1984, the organization has promoted the use of technology and innovation to eliminate wasteful spending and improve the efficiency of the federal government.  The ITPC will continue and enhance these efforts to save money for taxpayers.”

ITPC Executive Director Deborah Collier noted, “Maintaining U.S. global leadership in innovation and technology requires the promotion and adoption of policies that will allow the private sector to invest, thrive, and innovate.  The ITPC will augment CAGW’s efforts to ensure the success of these policies.”
