Citizens Against Government Waste Warns Against Government Regulations on Broadband

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Responding to a bill recently introduced by Reps. Ed Markey and Anna Eshoo, Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) warned that government regulation, or “net neutrality,” will stifle continued innovation regarding the Internet, limit the dissemination of knowledge and ideas, and adversely affect economic growth.

Thomas Schatz, CAGW president, and David Williams, CAGW V.P. for Policy are available for media interviews to discuss why government intervention in the broadband industry is unnecessary, as well as how it will have negative consequences on the U.S. economy and prevent further innovation.

“Government intervention will have severe consequences, since the private market has driven the growth and innovation in broadband,” said Schatz.  “The legislation proposed by Reps. Markey and Eshoo will result in lower growth and innovation as well as higher prices and less competition.”

To schedule an interview with Schatz or Williams, contact Leslie Paige at 202.467.5334 or lpaige@cagw.org
