How can I customize the look of my personal page using different styles and layouts?

What are Layouts?

When you choose a layout, you are selecting an arrangement of text and pictures that comes with that format.

A layout may also be described as a template.  It is an arrangement of photo and text components on a web page.  A layout also comes with the option to display status indicators. Status indicators are graphics or charts that are useful for displaying progress.  In this case, a graph or an image, a thermometer, for example, is used to visually represent how you are doing in your fund drive.  They visually demonstrate your progress to all visitors - an excellent incentive for others to get involved!

Note that you can preview both layout and style simply by clicking on the Preview button on the left.

When you choose a style, you are selecting the font size, the font type, font color, paragraph format that go with that style. How many layouts can I choose from?

You are able to choose from a total of 4 layouts at this time.  Each layout comes with its own organization of text, graphic and indicator elements.

Select a Layout and Style

Follow the instructions given below to choose a layout and design a page using that layout:

  1. Log on to the Participant Center.  Provide your user name and password.

  2. Select the Personal Page icon/link in the header of the Participant Center.

  3. On the screen that displays, highlight a layout to make a selection using the Layout pull-down menu provided.  Review the list of available layouts before you make your choice.

  4. In conjunction with a layout, control the total visual effect of your page by also choosing a style or color scheme for your page.

What is a style?

A Style is a color scheme which determines the color of fonts and headers on your page.

Can you look at a style or a layout before you choose?

Yes.  You have the option to preview both the style and the layout you select in the pull-down menu, before you actually press the Choose button.  Click on the Preview button to look at the style and the layout before you actually make your final selection.

  1. Press the Choose button.  This selects both Style and Layout for you.

  2. On the screen that displays, start filling in the text and photos you wish to use on this page.  Depending on the layout you selected, text, photos and status indicators will be arranged in a certain format.  Once you have decided where you wish to position the most eloquent images and the most telling paragraphs, get down to the business of actually entering these elements that compose your page.

  3. Remember, the layout you selected determines the format of the page, the way it looks. The power of your  message resides in the content you provide:  The text you enter, the photographs you use to illustrate and emphasize your ideology.  On a more practical note, a status indicator, an attractive image that illustrates your fundraising progress, could be an incentive.  You can make your selection from the ready-made images available to you.

How can I upload photos to my personal page

Use the Photo Cell

  1. Click the Browse button in the Photo 'cell' or section, then in the File Upload window that displays, select the photo you wish to place in that piece of the layout.  Click Open.

  2. The path to the file on your local machine/PC will display in the Browse text box.  Also, the selected photo will show up in the cell.

Note that you can only upload a photo in .gif or .jpeg format.  So make sure that you have saved any photo that you wish to use in one of these formats.

How can I clear the photo I just uploaded and replace it with another photo?

Simply click on the Browse button and select the photo you wish to place in that area and click Open to select in the File Upload dialog.  The new photo will replace the one that was previously in that spot.  You do not need to empty the cell to replace the photo with another one!

Add a Status Indicator

What is a Status Indicator?  A Status Indicator is a graphic or a chart used to represent fundraising progress.

In the layout of your page, in a Status Indicator cell, use the drop-down menu provided to select the  status indicator you wish to display on your page.

Displaying Status Indicators on the Greeting Page is good strategy for attracting participants and donors.  The visual representation of the TeamRaiser's progress acts as an incentive for active involvement.  The status indicators may not be modifiable by you.  What you see on the screen is probably determined by the organization running the TeamRaiser.

Remember to use the Preview button at the top of the page and at the bottom of the page to see how the page will appear to supporters and potential participants when they access it.  Of course, depending on the layout you chose, the image components, the greeting, and the status indicators will be arranged and aligned differently.
